How Does the Voting Work?

United Conservative Party by-laws, created by the membership, say that in order to be elected Leader, a candidate must receive over 50% of the valid votes cast. To facilitate this, a preferential ballot is used.

Members are asked to rank the candidates in order of their preference using numbers (i.e. 1 being their first choice, 2 being their second choice). Members may rank as many or as few candidates as they wish.
